Mombasa, Nairobi and Nakuru Tour Itinerary

Day 1
Wake up in Nairobi and enjoy breakfast at your hotel. Your driver-guide will pick you up at 6:00am for a full day exploring Nairobi’s wildlife and heritage.Morning: Nairobi National Park. Drive 15 minutes from the city center to Nairobi National Park for a 3-hour morning game drive. It’s the only national park in the world inside a capital city.

Drive across open savanna plains with the Nairobi skyline in the background. Spot lions, cheetahs, leopards, buffaloes, zebras, wildebeest, giraffes, and rhinos. The park is a rhino sanctuary and home to over 400 bird species. Early morning is the best time to see predators active.

Late Morning: Giraffe Centre.
Next, visit the Giraffe Centre in Langata. Meet the endangered
Rothschild’s giraffes on the raised feeding platform. Feed them pellets and learn about the conservation program protecting them. Allow 45 minutes.

Midday: Sheldrick Wildlife Trust Animal Orphanage
Head to the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust for the 11am - 12pm public viewing. Watch baby elephants and rhinos being fed milk and playing in the mud. Keepers share each orphan’s rescue story. Allow 1 hour.

Afternoon: Nairobi National Museum + Snake Park
After lunch, explore the Nairobi National Museum. Walk through galleries on Kenya’s history, culture, art, tribal artifacts, and fossils from the Cradle of Mankind.

Then visit the Snake Park within the museum grounds. See live snakes, lizards, turtles, and crocodiles. Learn about Kenya’s reptile species and venom research. It’s one of the most popular exhibits for both kids and adults. Allow 1.5 hours total for Museum + Snake Park.

Late Afternoon: Mamba Village
End the day at Mamba Village in Karen. Walk through the crocodile farm and see Nile crocodiles of all sizes. Enjoy the gardens and ponds before drop-off at your hotel.
Day 2
Your adventure begins with a warm welcome in Nairobi, at your hotel. After a short safari briefing, embark on a scenic road trip westward through the Great Rift Valley. The drive to Lake Naivasha takes approximately 1.5 to 2 hours.

Enjoy a brief stop at the Great Rift Valley viewpoint along the Mai Mahiu escarpment to take in sweeping valley views, rolling hills, and distant volcanic formations. Continue to the lakeside town of Naivasha and arrive in time for lunch at your lodge or resort, followed by time to relax and soak in the peaceful lakeside atmosphere.

In the afternoon, head out for a boat ride on Lake Naivasha. Glide past grazing hippos, watch fish eagles soar overhead, and spot pelicans, kingfishers, and cormorants along the shores. You can also opt for a visit to Crescent Island or Hell’s Gate National Park for a walking safari among giraffes, zebras, and antelope.

After your afternoon activity, enjoy dinner and an overnight stay by the lake before continuing your journey to Lake Nakuru National Park the next morning.

Day 3
After a relaxed breakfast at your lakeside resort, check out and begin your scenic road trip to Lake Nakuru National Park. The drive takes approximately 2.5 to 3 hours, traveling north through the floor of the Great Rift Valley.

Enjoy the changing landscapes as you pass flower farms, small towns, and rolling highlands. You may also catch views of Lake Elementaita along the way — another key bird watching site in the Rift Valley.

You will arrive at Lake Nakuru National Park in time for lunch at your lodge located inside the park. After lunch and a short rest, head out for an afternoon game drive.

Lake Nakuru is one of Kenya’s most treasured national parks, famous for its huge flocks of flamingos and pelicans along the lake shores. It is also a rhino sanctuary, home to both white and black rhinos, endangered Rothschild’s giraffes, buffalo, zebras, and big cats including lions and leopards in the woodlands.
After your game drive, return to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay surrounded by the sounds of the wild.

Day 4
After an early breakfast, check out and begin your drive to the world-renowned Masai Mara National Reserve, passing through varied landscapes including Maasai villages, rolling hills, and the Loita Plains. The drive takes about 5 to 6 hours.

You'll arrive in the Masai Mara in time for lunch and a short rest at your tented camp. In the late afternoon, set out on your first Mara game drive. This reserve is teeming with wildlife, including the Big Five-lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and rhino-as well as cheetahs, hyenas, and numerous plains game.
Watch the golden sunset over the savannah before heading back to Enkorok Mara Camp for dinner.

Day 5
Wake up early for a full day of exploration in the Masai Mara. After breakfast, set off on morning and afternoon game drives, or opt for a full-day safari with a packed picnic lunch. The park is a photographer's dream, with its rolling grasslands, acacia trees, and incredible wildlife.

You'll follow the migration paths (seasonal), track big cats, observe elephants herding their young, and possibly witness a kill in action. The Mara River, which cuts through the reserve, is home to large pods of hippos and Nile crocodiles. You'll have an option to enjoy a hot-air balloon safari at sunrise, followed by a champagne bush breakfast (both optional, at an extra cost). Alternatively, if you wish, you can visit a nearby Maasai village for cultural immersion (optional, at an extra cost).
After an exciting day, return to your camp for dinner and storytelling around the campfire.

Day 6
Enjoy an early breakfast before departing the Masai Mara for Nairobi, where you may stop for lunch depending on your travel arrangements. From Nairobi, continue your journey south toward Amboseli National Park, located near the Kenya-Tanzania border. The journey will take approximately 4 to 5 hours.

Arrive in the late afternoon and check in at Ol Tukai lodge, which offers incredible views of Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa's highest peak. If time permits, enjoy a short afternoon game drive before dinner.

Day 7
Full-day in Amboseli National Park Today is dedicated to exploring Amboseli National Park, one of Kenya's most scenic reserves. Known for its large elephant herds and unobstructed views of Mount Kilimanjaro, Amboseli offers excellent game viewing. After breakfast, embark on a morning game drive to explore the open plains, swamps, and acacia woodlands. Apart from elephants, look out for lions, cheetahs, buffalos, zebras, giraffes, and a variety of birds.

Later, visit Observation Hill, a lookout point that provides panoramic views of the entire park and swamps below, where elephants often bathe.

You will return to the lodge for lunch and some relaxation, followed by an afternoon game drive. Cap off your day with dinner under the stars.

Day 8
Start your day with breakfast at your hotel. Your driver-guide will pick you up for a full day exploring Mombasa’s history, culture, and wildlife.

Morning: Fort Jesus Museum
First stop: Fort Jesus Museum. This 16th-century Portuguese fort is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Walk through the thick coral walls, cannons, dungeons, and galleries that tell the story of Mombasa’s coastal trade and battles. Get panoramic views of Mombasa Harbor from the ramparts. Allow 1.5 hours.

Mid-Morning: Mombasa Old Town + Omar
Drive into Mombasa Old Town — a maze of narrow streets, Swahili doors, and Arab architecture. Visit the Mandhry Mosque, one of the oldest mosques in Mombasa.

Stop at Omar / Ndia Kuu Street area to shop for spices, kikois, wood carvings, and antiques in the curio shops. Walk through House of Wonders / Swahili Cultural Centre if open. The vibe here is pure Swahili coast history. Allow 1.5 hours.

Lunch
Enjoy Swahili seafood lunch at a restaurant overlooking the ocean.

Afternoon: Haller Park + Mombasa Tusks
Head to Haller Park in Bamburi. This wildlife sanctuary has giraffes, zebras, hippos, tortoises, and the famous 130-year-old tortoise "Mzee". Feed giraffes and walk the nature trails and reptile park. Allow 2 hours.

On the way back to town, do a photo stop at the iconic Mombasa
Tusks on Moi Avenue — the landmark for Mombasa city photos.

In the evening, drop-off
will be at your hotel.
Day 9
After breakfast, check out and begin your journey to Diani Beach. Upon arrival, you'll be transferred to your beach hotel along the sparkling Indian Ocean coast. Spend the rest of the day at leisure, relaxing on the white sandy beach, swimming in the ocean, or lounging by the pool.

Your dinner and overnight stay will be at the hotel.

Day 10
Enjoy a full day in paradise. Take a relaxing beach stroll, indulge in a Swahili spa treatment, sip cocktails by the sea, or explore the lively Diani shopping arcades and art galleries. Alternatively, organize a local cultural tour to experience the coastal communities and Swahili culture (optional, at an extra cost). On these days, if you wish, you can also opt for activities such as glass-bottom boat rides, kite surfing, jet skiing and deep-sea fishing (all optional, at an extra cost).

Your beach hotel offers multiple dining options, evening entertainment, and peaceful surroundings to soak in your final full day in Kenya. Breakfast, dinner and your overnight stay will be at Diani Sea Resort.
